Has digital photography devalued the photograph?
Has digital photography devalued the photograph? I think not, I believe what devalues a photograph is not the technology of a particular time however the hand of the photographer itself.
If we first consider analogue photography...
If an individual shoots in analogue, develops, prints all by hand without any interaction of digital technology does it make it more valuable than a digital image? perhaps, however it does depend on what is being shot and whether the photographer has taken the time to construct the composition. If a photo was taken of a flower, just a single image both shot in digital and analogue then I'd agree that analogue is more valued as all other variables remain the same.
I don't agree that digital photography devalues a photograph because it doesn't, it's all about the hand of the photographer in my eyes, their approach and how he or she conducts it. Gregory Crewdson uses digital manipulation but does this devalue his work?
