The introduction.

For the (BA Hons) Photography students of Southampton Solent University our first lecture back was somewhat interesting... This semester we've been given a joint assignment both consisting of 50%. Our task is to write a 1000 word review on a current exhibition of our choice alongside a weekly blog. The production of a weekly blog offers us  'an opportunity to reflect on our own learning processes'. This will achieved by through research undertaken both in lectures and independently.

The second half of the lecture was the most appealing part by far as we had the opportunity to glance at a number of professional blogs.

Blogs we looked at:

Cup Of Pea
HOTshoe
LENSCRATCH
LITTLE BROWN MUSHROOM
1000 Words Photography

Links can be located on the gadget bar.

Although my blog is rather simple and mundane by the end of this assignment I hope that my own blog will offer something similar  to what these professional examples provide.

Rasmus Vasli - Unknown cuties, in a hurry.
What I find fascinating about these blogs is that the authors have truly gone to endless lengths to personalize these web pages and in doing so they have gained a mass number of readers. When  searching for blogs I found that many of them lacked sustenance when they could have so much more potential. For example Cup Of Pea was one example I was particularly fond of, the approach is simple yet genius in that the author Rasmus Vasli already has a connection with their audience by photographing random members of the public.

Another webpage I instantly fell in love with is LITTLE BROWN MUSHROOM and my reasons for this is that the web team have really out done themselves. Out of all of the blogs I've seen so far this webpage offers the widest network of photography, looking at up coming artists, exhibitions, access to video and a variety of others sources. When I have some spare time I will definitely be reading their archival posts.
